Green Pepper Shamrocks

The kids and I made green pepper Shamrocks the other day. I used to do this project with my 2nd Graders each year.
You draw out an outline of a Shamrock and then you cut the green pepper tops and use the green peppers as the stamp. I always get an extra green pepper for us to eat together! Yum! Though, I was the only one really eating it! HA!

Anderson and Penny also made these. I just didn't get a picture.

Then I take green paper and make a bigger Shamrock to outline their project. When the paint drys, I have the kids color them with their crayons.

We used various colors of green, yellow, and orange to color them.

Funny how each one turns out different!

Why Daylight Savings????

It is that time of the year again for daylight savings. Now, I did a little research on why we have daylight savings and the reasons for it.
-saves energy
-fewer violent crimes
-fewer traffic accidents
-safer for trick-or-treaters
-increased voter turnout (REALLY?!?!?!)
-farmers have more daylight
-people like it (Not this Mama!)
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Those are the reason we have daylight savings?!?!?!
The reason I am so passionate about this subject, is because I am a mom with small children. How am I able to explain to my child that no it is not time to eat, you need to wait an hour than you are used to? Or I know you are not really tired for your nap, but the clocks says it is time?
Clear and simple, daylight savings does not work with young children and I think we should stop this daylight savings.

How Old Is She?????

I need to admit something! Yes, I allowed my 3 1/2 year old to use a pacifier at nap time and night time! That feels a little better to get that off my chest! I know the thoughts that are running through your mind! Wow, that mom doesn't have will power?!?! Well, you are right, but in my defense how many of you know of a mother who had 3 children in 19 months and just wanted them to go to bed without a fight?

My Ellie just loves sleeping. She would beg to go to sleep for her naps and would go to bed anywhere! I think one of the reasons she loved bed was because she got to have her pacifier. She would nap around 3 hours a day and then she didn't put up a fight about going to bed at night. I know a dream come true!!!! So, maybe now you can see why I didn't want to give up the pacifier.

I took Ellie to the dentist the first time and he asked me right away, "Does she suck her thumb?" Then I had to explain how my 3 1/2 year old still uses a pacifier. I know embarrassing! He told me we needed to get rid of it! So that prompted the "Pacifier Fairy" to come!

So, we talked to Ellie and told her if she gives up her pacifiers, the "Pacifier Fairy" would come give her a present. So, my Ellie is very girlie when it comes to dressing up. I picked these two things out for her.
I put them outside her door. I also put coins in a bag for her. I think she liked the coins the best! Go figure!!!!
So, how is it going? It is going alright! She hasn't had the pacifier for about two weeks. That means she hasn't had a nap in two weeks. Yes, Ellie has given up her naps. :( It makes for a very long day and a cranky child by dinner time. But, I guess it was time.

Prayer

This sweet boy's name is Jackson and he is 21 months old. He is actually my sister, Jamie's nephew. A month ago they found out that Jackson has cancer. He is very sick. They found a tumor in his stomach. They sent him to Children's hospital for more tests. The results came back that he has stage 3 cancer and they give him a 40 to 50 percent chance of survival. He is in a lot of pain.
Right now he is going through his 2nd round of chemo. His mama is with him at Children's Hospital in Chicago.
Please pray for this sweet boy and his parents!

Splish, Splash!

A few weekends ago we went to The Wilderness, in Wisconsin Dells. We went with two other couples and their families. Here we are eating at Mouse Jaw. I had a nice pulled pork sandwich.
My very own little moose!
Zach and Avielle
Jacob
Then the kids went over and played some arcades.

We went in February and the temperature outside was really nice.

We stayed in a big house together and a shuttle would take us to the water park.

Sweet Molly!

My 3 kiddos! They are modeling for "Gap." HA!

Ellie and Daddy waiting for the shuttle.

Ellie really enjoyed the water park.

These two are just fish in the water! They went down most of the slides. They are growing up so fast! Ellie and Daddy going down the slide.

Chevy took the kids down the family slide.

Anderson loves his goggles!

Elizabeth and me! (Wow, I'm actually in a picture!)

We tried to get a group picture, but it was at the end of our trip and the kids weren't really having it!

Especially this one!!!!!!
