Avi's Cast Is Off

A few days before Avi got her cast off we had her friends sign the cast. I know that most people have their friends sign the cast as soon as they get the cast, but for me I just wanted to wait until the end so I didn't see all the messiness of signatures! HA!

I took all three of the kids to get her cast off. How fun right? Avi did freak out especially with the saw and seeing the blade. (I would of too!) The nurse and I held her down and the cast came off with a lot of effort. At first Avi couldn't even move her arm and it really worried me that it might be still be broken.
The nurse took us to the x-ray room and I held Avi and she again freaked because she didn't want to straighten out her elbow. She finally did and her elbow had healed and she was fine.

Here she has her left arm back. It took a few days for her to become comfortable to bend it.
So proud of her!!!!!

The Choo Choo!

Last week we took the kids on their first real train ride. We got up early picked up my mom and headed to the Barrington station.

The girls are waiting for the train.

Our stop was at Des Plaines and we walked over to the Cho Cho restaurant. My mom said that we should get there before 10:30, because it is a very popular place. We got there and were the first ones in, but soon many people came!

Ellie eating her milkshake!

The famous part about the restaurant is that the train brings out your food to you!

My mom and Avi!

Fun diner!

Me and my crazy kids!

Then we headed back to the station for our train ride back! It was such a fun experience!

"The Cast"

So, I used to get stopped a million times a day about my kids red hair, but now we are stopped and asked about this bright pink cast! Two weeks ago Chevy and my dad were putting up tall ladders to paint the trim of our house. I decided that it was a hot day and that I would try something new with the kids and bring out our new Slip and Slide! It took a while for the kids to learn what to do. Avi was getting the hand of it and then she decided to run across the Slip and Slide and wasn't looking and fell at the end of it right on her elbow! OUCH!

Avi tends to be a drama queen when it comes to being hurt, but I noticed she wasn't using her arm for anything. After a while of refusing to straighten it Chevy took her to the ER, which is never a good experience. They waited for a long time to be seen and after the x-ray they said that it wasn't broken and sent her home in a soft cast.

The next day was VBS. Avi really didn't want to miss it and I thought that it isn't broken so she should go. I dropped her off and she was so glad to be there. Chevy then calls me and tells me that the doctors called and they reviewed her x-ray again and there was a break in the elbow. Poor thing!

Chevy picked her up from VBS I drove to the ER to get her x-ray. She had her cast put on pretty fast and she chose the hot pink! The cast is waterproof. Can you believe it? I'm so glad she can still swim! The cast has not stopped her from doing much other than eating corn on the cob! She can't get the corn in her mouth. We have 1 1/2 weeks to go before it comes off!

4th Of July

Okay I know that it is August, but I wanted to share our 4th of July weekend! It was a fun packed weekend. On Friday night we spent the evening with our friends swimming. Each year we ALWAYS put the kids in their 4th of July gear and take pictures.

They are eating their Popsicles.

IIt can be hard to get them all to smile at the same time!

The next day we went to Coldwater Michigan to meet up with the whole family. Chevy's parents and my parents have cottages on the same lake. Here are the kids with their cousins eating breakfast.

Odd! A picture of Ryan and I! That doesn't happen very often!

Auntie Rachelle and Avi

Avi and Nana! Can you tell that Avi likes pictures and smiles?

They are getting ready to go tubing!

Then we went to a carnival at a near by town. It is a small town carnival and I must be honest that it was fun to people watch! The kids all got their faces painted and we ate some yummy fattening food and then watched the fireworks. :)

The cousins all love each other!

Then on the actual 4th of July we went to the Quincey parade. It was the shortest parade I have ever been too! Though I was glad it was short, because it was HOT!

We had such a fun weekend and we were able to do so much. I know "picture overload," but I wanted to share our events.
